Here are some fun recipes that you can make at home!  Have fun!  And...Happy Halloween!

 

Truffle Shrews

12 oz. pkg. mini chocolate chips, reserve some for eyes
Pkg. plain butter cookies
1/2 cup sour cream
Sliced almonds for ears
Licorice strings for tails
1/2 cup cocoa powder mixed with 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Pulverize 1/2 of the package of cookies in a food processor. Melt all but reserved mini chocolate chips. Add pulverized cookies and sour cream to melted chocolate. Refrigerate for about 20 minutes. Shape mixture into shrews. Roll in cocoa/powdered sugar mixture. Also cover licorice strings with cocoa mixture. Add tails, eyes, and ears to shrews. Keep refrigerated until time to serve.

 

Screaming Skull Cheeseball

8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup mayonnaise
Garlic powder and salt to taste
Dried parsley
Green olives for eyes
Sliced almonds for teeth

Mix all ingredients except olives and almonds together. Form into skull shape. Make indentions for eyes and nose. Add olives for eyes and almonds for teeth. Keep refrigerated until time to serve.

 

Monster Eye Cookies

Sugar cookie dough
Powdered sugar
Neon gel food colors
Googly eyes, purchased or homemade using royal icing

Use your favorite sugar cookie recipe or use ready to bake packaged cookie dough. Divide dough into portions and tint different colors using gel food coloring, if desired. Roll into balls and roll in powdered sugar before baking. Flatten slightly on cookie sheet. Bake as directed adding a little time if making larger cookies. Add googly eyes when cookies come out of the oven.

 

Man Eating Cupcakes

Cupcakes made from your favorite cake mix
Green frosting
Gumdrop fruit slices
Black candy melts or chocolate chips
White frosting

Bake cupcakes as directed on box. Frost with green icing. Put two fruit slices together to make a flower. Secure with toothpicks. Make an indention in the flower and fill with melted chocolate or candy melts to make the mouth. Pipe on white teeth. Use the bottoms of the toothpicks to secure the flowers to the cupcakes. Be sure to remove toothpicks before consuming!

 

Devil Bat Whoopie Pies

Whoopie pie recipe - many available online
Whoopie pie filling - also online (Zelda used a filling recipe that contains marshmallow fluff.)
Orange gel food color
Red frosting
Bat shaped cookie cutter

Make whoopie pie batter. Spread out on cookie sheet large enough to accommodate the size of your cookie cutter. Bake. Cut shapes shortly after cooling on cookie sheet. Tint filling orange. Put filling in between two pies. Pipe on red frosting for eyes.

 

Ghostly Bundt Cakes

Your favorite cake mix
Powdered sugar glaze (powdered sugar, vanilla, hot water)
3-4 neon gel food colors
Meringue ghosts made from recipes found online
Black decorating gel for eyes on ghosts

Bake cake as directed on box using six small bundt pans or 1 regular bundt pan. Cool. Tint several bowls of powdered sugar glaze with different colors of neon gel food colors. Drizzle cake(s) with glazes. Decorate with meringue ghosts.
